Residential Trips
At St Helen’s we have developed a number of day trips that start from the Reception classes and end at class 6. We encourage trips that make use of our local environment, as we are in a very fortunate position to walk to some great locations.
We also try and plan 2 residential trips for the children in Years 5 and 6. The purpose of these trips is to develop skills that allow the children to become independent from class teachers and parent/carers. The trips focus on: team skills; coping with change and difficult challenges; developing relationships where you can rely on peers to carry you through; confidence in dealing with concerns and having fun and developing responsibility in a different learning environment (Outdoor Learning).
Currently the plan is for Year 5 children to have a overnight camping experience. In Year 6 the children go away for 3 days/2 nights to an activity centre carefully chosen by the school. This is very popular and is a great opportunity for the children.
