Become a teacher in Essex

Have you thought about becoming a primary school teacher?

Our school works in partnership with Essex and Thames Primary SCITT, offering high quality teacher training in primary education. The SCITT PGCE courses offered all lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and the award of a PGCE in Primary Education and give you up to 60 credits towards a masters degree.

Essex and Thames Primary SCITT has been involved with training the very best primary school teachers for Essex primary schools for nearly 20 years. The training is predominantly school-based with 120 days spent in the classroom and 70+ days in centre-based training in Wickford or Southend (whichever is nearest to you). This gives you extensive practical classroom experience and a detailed knowledge of both the National Curriculum and of educational pedagogy. The programme opens at the end of August with an Induction and a PE coaching course, and finishes in July.

All graduates from Essex and Thames Primary SCITT gain jobs as teachers, many of whom find jobs in one of the 135 partnership schools.

With a truly excellent reputation for teacher training, our schools, alongside this SCITT partner, offer you a variety of routes into teaching in Essex.
